What’s more, if not detected
early enough, it could leave bad marks on your credit report
that could haunt you for years. The most commonly thought of
credit card fraud is when your wallet or purse is stolen, and
the thief uses your credit cards to make unauthorized
purchases.

But, with the rate on online buying growing at an amazing rate,
another form of credit card fraud—known as misappropriation—is
spreading like wildfire. All that a thief needs to create havoc
on your credit life is your credit card number—not your actual
card.

Here are a few ways that this type of theft can happen:

* One day you get a phone call, and the person on the other end
of the line tells you that they have a special offer—usually
good for only a day or so—and that you simply need to provide
them with your credit card number to make a purchase. The
solution? Don’t ever give out your credit card number to anyone
who calls you. Only provide it if you have called the company to
place an order, and you are positive that it is a
well-established reputable business.

* You are shocked to find that someone has gone through the
bags of trash that you set outdoors for the early morning trash
pick-up. A few days later when you receive your credit card
statement, there are dozens of unauthorized charges. The
solution? Always tear up your credit card receipts and bank
statements before putting them in the trash. Many thieves go
through unguarded trash bags specifically looking for these
papers.

* You go out to eat in a restaurant and pay the bill with your
credit card. On your next credit card statement, you notice
that there are unauthorized charges that started the same day
as your restaurant meal. It turns out that the waiter made an
extra imprint of your card when he rung up your bill, and then
used the number to go shopping. The solution? Many restaurants
have placed their credit card processing centers in plain view
of the customer’s sight to combat this problem. If not, you
could follow the waiter to the charge station, and watch him
throughout the process. It’s also important to make sure that
they know that they are being watched.

So, what are some other measures that you can take to make sure
you aren’t a victim of credit card fraud? Here are a few
suggestions.

* If possible, it’s a good idea to carry your credit cards and
other bank information somewhere other than your wallet or
purse. That way, if a thief nabs it, you will be out only your
cash—not your credit cards.

* It’s also smart to only take with you the credit card that
you intend to use that day—leave the others at home.

* Be sure to have a list in a safe place that lists all of your
credit cards, the numbers and contact information of the issuing
company. That way, if you are unlucky enough to lose them,
you’ll have the information necessary to contact them as soon
as you notice the theft.

* Never sign a blank receipt, and always be sure to cross out
blank lines. For example, if you bought something that didn’t
require a tip, cross out the tip line so nobody can add to it
later.

* If you buying online make sure that you do so via a secure
site.

* If you move, report your new address to your credit card
issuer immediately. Some thieves look for moves, and then watch
the mailbox of the old house, hoping that they can intercept a
credit card statement.

By following the above suggestions, you will greatly reduce
your chances of becoming a victim of credit card fraud!

About the Author: This article provided courtesy of
http://www.debt-ender.com/

Source: http://www.isnare.com

Wireless Credit Card Machines

Buying Credit Card Terminals
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kent_Pinkerton]Kent Pinkerton

A credit card terminal is an indispensable device for your business. Major features of a credit card terminal are its price, speed, and reliability. There are three major types of terminals - traditional, wireless, and virtual. Each of them has its own features and functions. Modern credit card terminals require electricity and telephone lines. The price of a basic terminal ranges between $150 and $300. Terminals with printers vary from $200 to $600. For wireless terminals, the cost is ranges from $600 to $1,000. AVS (address verification system) is a standard feature on most credit card terminals- so it is advisable not to buy a terminal without it. While purchasing wireless terminals, important factors to be considered are battery life, weight, range, and shock-resistance.

Credit card terminals are perfect for businesses of all sizes. They come in different models. Businesses already using credit card terminals need to buy extra equipments to maintain additional services such as debit card transactions and issuing and accepting gift cards. Always keep your terminals clean. Dust, crumbs, and especially paper lint can quickly block printers and gum up stripe readers.

If you choose to buy your credit card terminal online, do some preparatory research at the outset. You should consider shipping charges and any other hidden costs involved. It is a good idea to compare prices online. Also, check the warranty and customer care services. You may also consider upgrading your existing machine rather than buying a totally new one. It is advisable that you go through online reviews from knowledgeable sources. If you own a small business and do not have a merchant account, you might find it difficult to accept credit cards. However, it is advisable to find a means to accept credit cards on your website because it is the best way to expand your customer base. Moreover, the money transaction will take place within a week.

Small businesses can accept credit cards through 3rd party processors, who will handle the entire processing. For the small business community where cash flow is less or sometimes tight, this is a most welcome alternative. Credit card processing is not very cheap. A standard fee schedule for a small-volume account with less than 1,000 monthly transactions would be a start up fee of around $200, and monthly processing fees of $20.

If you have your own website, secure and encrypted connections are the foremost requirement you need for safe credit card processing. You should also have fraud prevention tools to prevent credit card scams.

Credit card processors whom small business owners can rely on are of several types; banks are the most dependable though. Third party credit card processing companies, independent sales organizations, financial service providers, etc. act as credit card processors. While there are several credit card processing companies, the two important factors that one should look at before setting up an agreement would be "price" and "customer service potentiality" of the credit card processors.

The merchant account provider you sign up with, might require an assurance that you have a thorough knowledge of your business environment, can identify the possible risks, know how to prevent or reduce fraud etc. [http://www.i-CreditCardProcessing.com]Credit Card Processing provides detailed information on Credit Card Processing, Online Credit Card Processing, Credit Card Processing Software, Wireless Credit Card Processing and more. Credit card processing involves many things, such as the verification of the consumer's credit card number, expiry date, and other data connected with credit cards.

If you are a beginner in business, free credit card processing services would be an ideal option for you. Unlike regular credit card processing, you don't have to pay for expensive credit card processing software, customer service fees, a secure server, minimum transaction fees, and monthly gateway fees when using free credit card processing.

Most free credit card processing companies charge only a nominal fee per transaction or a monthly percentage fee. Therefore, free processing helps you save a significant amount of money every month. However, this does not work well when merchant accounts are involved. Regular credit card processing involves the payment of a statement fee, a minimum fee, a discount fee, and a license fee, in addition to start-up fees.

If you opt to go with free credit card processing, it is advisable that you visit a credit processing firm to learn what kind of transactions are generally done in credit card processing. Third party credit card processing companies can be a good resource for those who are looking for a less expensive means to accept credit cards online. They normally offer free credit card processing services. Their merchant account doesn?t charge any fee for many transactions, including phone, fax, retail, mail, Internet, or wireless businesses.

Lots of free credit card processing companies do not entail creating your own merchant account. Your location is no longer a barrier to
finding the best auto loan rate. However, you want to take
advantage of the financing options available. While searching
for an auto loan, research financing companies, negotiate
terms, and increase your down payment to get low rates.

Study Financing Companies

A sure fire way to find the best car loan rate is to study
financing companies. Only by requesting quotes and comparing
the fine print can you truly know you are getting the lowest
rate.

Fortunately, online auto loan brokers offer convenient ways to
compare lenders. With some sites you can make side by side
comparisons, while other sites will email you multiple
financing offers. Auto loan brokers work hard to attract
customers by negotiating lower rates with lenders, so you often
will find better deals through their sites that through a
dealership.

To ensure that you are getting accurate quotes, fill out the
form as completely as possible. A slight difference in income
or employment dates can reduce your interest rate.

Negotiate Terms

To find the best auto loan for your financial situation, you
will want to balance the interest rates and length of your
loan. Shorter loans offer lower rates, but with a higher
monthly payment. Take a look at your monthly budget to see what
type of auto loan would work best for your situation.

Increase Your Down Payment

While zero down or a slight down payment are options for car
buyers, a large down payment will save you money. By putting
down 20% or more, you will qualify for a lower interest rate,
even if you have adverse credit. You will also save money by
not paying interest on that portion of the vehicle’s price.

Demand A Better Deal

By getting pre-qualified for a car loan, you can also reduce
the cost of your vehicle by demanding a better deal from your
dealership. As a pre-qualified buyer, salespeople see you as a
cash buyer, and they want your money. You can negotiate for
rebates, higher trade-in value of your vehicle, and extra
features.

About the Author: Carrie Reeder is the owner of
http://www.abcloanguide.com, an informational website about
various types of loans. This is not a difficult process, but you
will need to get started promptly if you want to stay even with
or get ahead of the competition.

To become eligible to accept credit card services, you need to
apply for a merchant services account. This is a special bank
or financial account that an underwriter provides to back
credit payments from clients to you. Do an Internet search to
find financial institutions who offer this service; many do,
and they would love to have your business. All you need do is
check out the prices and terms and go with the best deal you
can get. Be careful to read the fine print, however, as there
can be hidden fees like print statement costs, gateway fees,
and Website maintenance if you go the Internet route. You also
may be asked to pay annual membership fees or application fees,
so do your homework before selecting a company where you will
seek a merchant account. You can quickly apply via the Internet
or by telephone, and you can generally expect a fairly prompt
reply. In a matter of a few days, you could be ready to start
accepting credit card payments from current and new customers.

Your clients will appreciate your willingness to accept credit
card services, since many dislike the hassle of paying by cash
or check. If you plan to offer credit card payment options at
the physical location of your company or organization, you will
need to purchase or lease a credit card processor that can be
plugged in, perhaps one with a combination terminal and
printer. If an employee or you plan to deliver goods and
services, however, you may prefer to invest in a wireless
credit card processor that you can take with you in the van
wherever you go. A pager might be another useful acquisition,
as well as an e-check or debit processor. Don’t overextend
yourself, however. Only purchase what you can afford to pay for
each month. You can always buy more equipment or upgrade to more
features when they are truly needed.

To accept credit card services at a company Website, find a
good Web designer who will put up a quality site for your
business. Your merchant account will let you accept credit
payments onsite, which allows you to reduce staffing loads and
yet bring in more income. Your Website can be viewed from
customers all around the world at any time of the day or night,
and you can likewise receive credit payments from any location.
Many merchants claim their profit rises dramatically after they
start accepting credit on a Website.

Don’t let prosperity pass you by. Find out how you can open a
merchant account and learn to accept credit card services on
the Internet.

About the Author: Shane Penrod is the founder of
Merchant-Account-Quotes.com Specializing in allowing merchants
the ability to shop and compare multiple quotes from national
merchant account providers. They are perfect for any business that accepts credit card payments by phone, fax or e-mail. Virtual credit card terminals are a safe, browser-based interface that allows you to authorize, process, and manage credit card transactions, using any computer with an Internet connection. You do not need a physical credit card terminal.

As they reduce complexity and expenses, virtual credit card terminals are suitable for businesses of all sizes. They are commonly used in utility companies, mail order businesses, call center operations, newspapers and magazines, insurance companies, charities, and service companies. With virtual credit card terminals, you can manually enter credit card transactions for mail or phone order sales, refund money to a customer's credit card, automatically bill customers for recurring charges, check the status of transactions, run a variety of reports, and capture previously authorized transaction.

Virtual terminals are software-based credit card terminals enabling you to quickly capture and authorize credit card transactions in real time. When the process is complete, the merchant receives an authorization number and the server stores the transaction details. Transactions are automatically settled at the end of the day and the reports are generated within two to three business days.

Compared with POS (point of sale) terminals, virtual credit card terminals are very fast. Other features of virtual credit card terminals include address verification service, customer and merchant email notifications, recurring payments, and detailed reporting capabilities. Automatic item sub-total calculation, credit card swipe card option, automatic tax calculation, automatic shipping calculation, item discount calculator, billing and shipping data fields, and coupon or rebate calculator are the added features of virtual credit card terminals.

Unlike other software packages, virtual credit card terminals do not need licensing fees and fees for upgrades and customer service. The cost is always associated with authorizing and processing of credit card transactions. Most software-based credit card terminals utilize flash memory to store the software.

With
the great competition in the credit card market, almost any
credit card company is pushing their card offers almost
anywhere. Especially at certain times of the year like
Christmas time and other holiday shopping seasons or the first
weeks of college and schools etc. They even attatch small
treats if you fill in an application. Should you jump into the
first offer you get and fill in an application form or should
you go home, sit down, relax and think a little before you fill
in a credit card application form? I recommend that you choose
the last mentioned option.

To make a really good deal on credit cards you have to

know which factors that make a good credit card deal

compare different credit card deals or offers

Included on all credit card application forms are parts written
in fine print. Ongoing and enthusiastic salesman or woman will
tell you what a fantastic deal their offer is and will probably
not even mention this print. However, it's you who are signing
the deal and it is your responsibility to know what you're
signing. If you are going to check one single thing, it should
be the APR. Credit companies often tempt you with a low
introductory APR. It is the long term APR you should compare,
not the short term.

Also make sure that you only deal with a serious credit card
company and be aware of scammers. It goes without saying, that
you shouldn't apply for a credit card just because of having
one. Only apply for it if you need it.

Which information do you have to give away when applying for a
credit card? Most credit card companies require as little as

your name

your address

your social security number

any previous addresses you may have had

This information will be sufficient for the credit company to
check out your credit history, which will be the main criteria
for approval or denial. Be aware that the APR will often vary
according to which credit score you have; the higher score the
lower APR. This is the way the credit companies level down the
risk following a low credit score.

Like I said in the beginning of this article you can get credit
card offers almost everywhere. Banks, Credit Companies and other
companies and often with special bonuses at their warehouses and
stores. The easiest way to access whichever credit card company
you prefer is through the internet.

About the Author: Terje Brooks Ellingsen is a writer and
internet publisher. When you invest this much money in this rather essential equipment, it is quite natural to want to properly maintain the equipment and extend its useful life for as long as possible.

One of the best ways to prevent your credit card terminals from breaking down prematurely is to clean them periodically.

The presence of dust, crumbs, and paper lint can cause built-in printers and stripe readers to become clogged making card reading devices difficult or impossible to use properly. A simple $2 investment in a can of compressed air, however, can help you quickly and easily clean your terminals, helping them last for up to five years without missing a beat.

When you buy new equipment of any kind for your business it is essential that you stay in the habit of maintaining it, and remind your employees to do the same.

Another, perhaps less obvious way to ensure the longevity of your card reading equipment is to buy a terminals that use integrated flash memory to store the software that runs them. Flash memory makes it easy to download and install system updates, preventing software advances and security vulnerabilities from rendering your devices obsolete.

About the Author:
Jeremy Maddock is a successful web-based freelancer, who writes articles about business financial products and other corporate products.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jeremy_Maddock
http://EzineArticles.com/?How-to-Maintain-Credit-Card-Terminals&id=297856

Buying credit card processing terminals for a retail business can be a substantial investment, costing several thousand dollars or more in many cases. Overall business successes can sometimes hinge on that business' ability to accept transactions over the internet. In addition, the internet can help turn a local company into an international company and open up new avenues of business.

However, creating an e-commerce website does not automatically mean website sales. In a future article I will focus more on the aspects of actually operating an e-commerce website, but for now, I will cover the basics that will answer most questions for businesses who are considering the move to selling online.

First Steps

Let's assume that your business already has a professionally designed website. We usually ask new clients with existing websites who would like to start selling on the internet a series of questions to help determine the best solution for selling online:

Who is your target audience?

It is important to know who your customers are when taking into consideration the design of your e-commerce website.

What type of web hosting do you currently have?

The type of hosting can determine what type of programming is used on your website. Also, if you do not have sufficient resources to have an e-commerce website, then it is important to know this in advance so that we may suggest a suitable host for a client's needs.

How many products are you going to be selling?

Sometimes a client may only have a handful of products, in which case, a shopping cart (either pre-developed or custom) is not necessarily the best solution.

What type of special features would you like your shopping cart to have (example: coupons, affiliate program, downloadable goods, etc.)?

This is quite possibly the most important question because the answers to our special e-commerce website pre-development survey are usually the basis for understanding the specifics of a client's needs and for determining the price and time necessary to complete the project.

Explaining E-commerce

The next step in the process usually involves explaining to the client exactly how e-commerce works on the web. Below is a brief explanation of the technology behind the process and what is necessary to sell items on the internet.

The Process

Once a customer visits an e-commerce websites, adds product to their cart, and then clicks to check out, it official begins the transaction of the sale. Programming in the shopping cart enables the credit card information to be sent to what is called a payment gateway. The payment gateway's sole purpose is to offer a secure way to pass this information through the merchant account and on to the credit card processing bank. The processing bank sends the information to the customer's credit card issuer and the transaction is either approved or declined. From there, the results of the transaction are relayed back to the payment gateway where they are stored and sent to both the customer and merchant for verification. At this stage, the shopping cart usually issues a receipt to the customer and a notification of the order to the business.

A Merchant Account

The first thing a business needs in order to accept credit cards online is a merchant account. The merchant account is usually a business back account that is either set up through a Merchant Service Provider (for example, http://www.cardservice.com) or through your regular bank. When a transaction is approved on your website, the merchant account provider will deposit the funds in an account such as your business checking account.

A Payment Gateway

A payment gateway is the online terminal for encrypting and sending transaction information back and forth between your website, the merchant account and to the processing bank. One of the most popular gateways is http://www.authorize.net Most merchant account providers can also sell you a payment gateway.

A Secure Certificate (SSL)

A secure certificate is a necessity when running online transactions as it provides your customers with a secure webpage in order to enter their personal and credit card information before it is sent through the gateway. How can you tell you are on a secure order page? Simply look for a small lock symbol at the top of your browser next to the website address and https:// before the web address.

Shopping Cart Systems

Through discussing all of the details of a proposed e-commerce business website, we can help our clients determine what the best shopping cart solution is; whether it is a pre-developed cart, or a new custom programmed cart. We go through an extensive interview process to make sure each e-commerce solutions is custom tailored to the client's needs.

In Conclusion

I hope this information will be helpful to businesses that are just starting out with e-commerce, but remember, these are only the first initial steps to setting up your website to sell online. They are very commonly used in retail stores and restaurants. Most merchant credit card terminals accept all major credit, debit, and private-label cards offering low-cost credit card authorization, check guarantee, and data capture for a range of retail applications.

A terminal to process credit cards is a great investment to your business. Most merchant credit card terminals support Internet-based services such as e-mail, electronic signature, interactive electronic coupons, onscreen advertising, cash management reporting, and e-commerce. They make transactions more convenient, faster, and accurate for both customers and merchants.

At first, merchant credit card processing terminals verify your customer's card information. Then they withdraw money for the purchase from the customer?s account and deposit it directly into your merchant account. The most important units of merchant credit card terminals are card readers with a small keypad and display. They require power supply and can communicate through a telephone line. Modern terminals are powered by batteries and can communicate wireless or over the Internet. They come in several sizes and prices.

There are many types of merchant credit card terminals: traditional terminals (with or without printers), wireless terminals, and virtual or software-based terminals. Merchants with a permanent place of business need a basic card reader terminal. In this case, the terminal is placed right on the counter where all transactions take place. For businesses that constantly change locations, a wireless credit card processing terminal is a good choice. It is suitable for merchants who are always on the go.

Millions of merchant credit card terminals ship annually and the majority have the same basic functions and features. It can only be used in combination with a merchant account that processes credit card transactions. Businesses already using credit card terminals need to buy extra equipments to maintain additional services such as debit card transactions and issuing and accepting gift cards. A number of terminals also support additional forms of payment such as electronic bank transfers and phone cards.

Credit Card Terminals provides detailed information on Credit Card Terminals, Credit Card Terminal Systems, Wireless Credit Card Terminals, Credit Card Processing Terminals and more. Credit Card Terminals is affiliated with Credit Card Processing Software.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Kent_Pinkerton
http://EzineArticles.com/?Merchant-Credit-Card-Terminals&id=353177

Wireless Credit Card Machines

Making A Credit Card Work For You
By Max Hunter

Boosting Your Credit-Rating With A Well-Managed Credit Card

A considerable obstacle standing between many Americans and the
consumer goods they consider a necessary or desirable part of
life is a ready way to pay for them. From a new piece of
furniture to a car or even a house an age old problem stands in
their way: MONEY – or rather how to get hold of it.

A lucky few earn enough to never have to worry about this
problem. Many more consumers have lenders simply falling over
themselves with offers of credit. For a lot of people, however,
a poor credit history or a low credit rating stands as an
inexorable difference between living the life they want, and
looking with perpetual envy at their neighbor. Even relatively
low cost essentials, such as a vacuum cleaner or television
set, can be too expensive if a way of spreading the initial
cost is not available.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Credit is available for
those with a lower credit scores, but better still: Borrowing
even relatively small amounts can be a great way for borrowers
with a "chequered past" to improve their credit rating. A
better credit score can lead to an array of greater awards in
the future, including better APR deals and larger credit lines.
If you have a poor credit rating and dreams of one day buying a
house, a credit card is the first logical step to pulling up
your record and getting a mortgage.

Making regular monthly payments to an agreed timescale on a
credit card is – short of scooping a massive inheritance from a
long lost millionaire aunt – one of the single best ways to
improve your credit score. So long as you don’t take on more
debt than you can afford, credit cars are ideal: payments are
reasonably sized and flexible, and if you budget properly can
be structured towards an ultimate payoff

Moreover, you have to be wise to how credit card companies
work. Credit cards are designed by financial institutions as a
way to keep you making minimum payments for years to come – and
enslaved to large interest payments from which they make many of
their profits. Borrow only what you can, and pay back the debt
as quickly as possible.

Of course, even when dealing with the very best lenders, trying
to secure credit card financing with a lower credit rating does
throw up some problems.

Financial institutions will usually insist on a higher interest
rate and sometimes may even ask for a guarantor. The interest
rate can be up to three times what a good credit borrower would
be offered, although in these days of low interest rates, that
need not be prohibitively expensive.

Always try and walk before you run. If you have a high interest
rate on your credit card, borrow sparingly and pay back quickly.
That way you’ll build up your credit score and be able to get
cheaper APR in the future, making larger purchases then far
cheaper over the fullness of time. If you make a large purchase
at a high interest rate and can only pay back the minimum
payment each month, with interest charges you could be paying
as little as just one of half of a percent of the existing
balance each month.

Always keep you balance under control. It can be easy to let
your credit card spending run in excess of what you had
planned. If you have concerns that you might do so, ask the
lender to impose an easily manageable credit limit. That way
you won’t spend a dime more than you can afford. The worst time
to gain unmanageable balance is when interest rates are at their
highest. Do that and it can seem like a lifetime before you get
things back under control.

High-risk borrowers should always exercise extreme caution
before entering into any financial obligation. Before even
thinking about taking on any new financial obligation, consider
your budget and ask yourself how much – if anything – you can
afford. If you decide that you can, you should still be careful
about choosing the right deal.

However, if you can get a credit card that you can manage well,
the benefits are enormous. It will enable you to spread the cost
of larger purchases over manageable periods of time; you can
fill holes in your budget (that are so common in the run up to
pay day); and build up a credit history that will enable you to
get better APR on borrowings and allow you to borrow money for
larger items.

An auto loan or mortgage may seem a distant dream for many
Americans with poor credit histories, but everybody has to
start off somewhere. Get a credit card, manage it well, and
you’ll soon get to where you want.

About the Author: Max Hunter is the author of many credit
related articles. With the world coming online credit card fraud is on the increase. How are we able to take advantage of the savings from these online offers without having to give up our personal credit card information?

Whenever I sign up for anything that says it is going to deduct from a credit card I get one of those prepaid credit cards and only put enough on the card to take care of any online obligations. This way I don't have to worry about additional charges or somebody hacking into this companies computers and getting all my information. You would think that stores like Blockbuster Video would sell prepaid credit cards in their stores so that they could offer this option to customers thus increasing the number of online accounts they are taking every day.

Prepaid credit cards is a great way to eliminate the fear of online purchases.. Even when purchasing from a site like Ebay you can make use of these prepaid credit cards. I have very rarely found a site that won't accept the use of a prepaid card. The only card I have ever had refused was one of those prepaid American Express gift cards. My GreenDot card has never been turned down and they don't charge a transaction fee like a lot of cards do.

Another option would be to set up a small savings account at your local bank and get a Visa debit card. The only thing I don't like about these debit cards is it is very hard to ever dispute a transaction on them. A regular credit card will give you usually about 30 days to dispute a transaction whereas Discover card says they will give you 90 days and a friend of mine who has an American Express card says they will allow him to dispute a transaction for a year.

Now I did have a Discover card at one time and I used it to by some software. The software was defective so I disputed the transaction but all Discover Card cared about was that I had received the software. They stated that they did not care that the software did not work that if that were the case I should dispute it directly with the merchant.

Jeffrey has over 2 decades experience in the business world. Many have built in pin pads and thermal printers to make them a complete mobile transaction solution. They are lightweight, very portable and are easy to use. * A wireless credit card machine comes with advanced technology but also with a much higher price tag when compared to standard POS terminals. The starting price on a wireless credit card machine is around $850.00 for full featured terminals and can go up from there.

* The comstar charge anywhere terminal has a much lower price, but does not include an attached printer. One of the benefits of wireless terminals is a feature called store and forward. This service allows cards to be processed when no cellular service is available, by storing the card and transaction information obtained in the swiping of the credit card. The merchant later completes the transaction when service is available. By using store and forward, a merchant will never have to turn down a sale.

* Most wireless terminals have built in pin pads , and are also able to operate with electronic check acceptance services. Due to federal regulations, both debit and electronic checks must be processed through a land line connection and cannot be processed wireless. This is due to the added security that is required when transactions involve a customer's bank account.

* Wireless credit card machines are most often used in mobile and trade show businesses, but are becoming more common in upscale restaurants, taxi, limo, and delivery services.

Wireless Processing Networks
Wireless credit card machines operate on wireless networks, and thus require additional wireless fee's for the cellular service. A wireless credit card machine can be used with a normal phone line if cellular service is not available within a particular area, or can be set up with a store and forward system when no telecommunication method is available at all.

Important Wireless Network Information

1. Mobitex Wireless Processing Network uses a satellite network, and operates similar to a cellular phone. This network is the standard for wireless processing. The mobitex network is run by Velocita Wireless. This is not the standard cellular phone network, but is designed specifically for business and processing uses.

2. CDPD Wireless Processing Network is similar to but pre-dates the Motient network is called CDPD. Machines that use the CDPD system will soon be useless on the wireless processing network because the CDPD system is being abandoned. It is important when purchasing a wireless terminal to ensure that the machine does not use the CDPD wireless network but uses the Motient or CDMA networks.

3. Wireless Network is very new for processing is the standard GSM and CDMA cellular phone networks. The GSM network is used by Cingular and T-Mobile. The CDMA network is used by Verizon and Sprint Wireless . These systems are the networks that most cellular phones operate on, allowing for a very large coverage area and reliable service. The coverage area is substantially larger than the Motient Network.

For more details Click here.
About the Author

None

Wireless Credit Card Machines

Wireless Communications - Your Computer Security Tip
By Syd Tash

I have repeated countless times never to shop online or give sensitive, personal information from a public computer. Not ever. No matter what security precautions you think you have taken. I stand by that advice.

But what if you are using your own laptop at a wireless hot spot? This is somewhat better, but there are still dangers. Follow these minimum steps:

1. Make sure all your security programs are up to date, including Windows (especially including Vista). You do have a full suite of security programs, right? If not, get them!

At a minimum, you should have an anti-virus program, a firewall, and two anti-spyware programs. A spyware blocker tool is also very useful, since it is always better to prevent a problem, rather than have to deal with it later.

A custom HOSTS file is good to have as well, since it will keep you away from known bad and dangerous sites, and help protect you from spyware. Do a search at a search engine for a good one.

If you have never used one before, it may seem complicated at first glance. It is not. Take the time to read and understand it.

It is a good idea to update and run all your security scans before going to the hot spot, so you know your laptop is clean to begin with.

2. Before giving sensitive info online, check that you are on a site that begins with https://... and you see a gold padlock on the lower right of your screen (upper right in IE7).

The s means secure and encrypted, although this is not foolproof. Criminal sites can be encrypted also, but this is rare.

When you want to go to the site of your bank, PayPal, broker, utility company, credit card company, etc. you must type the address in your browser yourself. Do not simply click on a link in an email; you could end up at a phishing (fake) site. Do not even copy and paste an address from an email. For that matter, email is not secure at all, so never send sensitive information in an email.

3. Disable file sharing, so no one can peek into your shared folders. Click Start, Control Panel, Network Connections. Right-click your connection and click Properties.

Select the Networking tab and clear the checkbox marked File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks. Click OK and restart your computer.

4. Change your passwords every month or two. Use a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters, if you can.

Do not use anything that can easily be guessed, such as your favorite restaurant, nearby college, the name of your dog, your name, birth date, street where you live, etc. Do not use the same password for all your sites.

5. Finally, here are some low-tech but important tips. Watch behind and around you! Before entering IDs or passwords, look around and make sure no one is watching you.

Check your bank and credit card statements carefully, as soon as they arrive. If anything looks wrong or unusual, contact the company immediately.

Restrict the number of people who use your laptop at home and at the office. The more people who use it, the less control you have over it, and the greater the chance that something bad will happen.

Give other users limited or guest accounts. This will restrict their activities on your machine, and prevent them from downloading anything. To set up additional accounts, click Start, Control Panel, User Accounts.

If you often connect at wireless hot spots, print out this article, and slip it into your laptop carrying case. Review it regularly. Happy (and safe!) surfing.

Syd Tash is a noted computer security consultant and author of How to Protect Your Computer from Daily Internet Threats. With
the great competition in the credit card market, almost any
credit card company is pushing their card offers almost

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iGzAhrci0rs/RjXCAEnWfVI/AAAAAAAAAFE/MQ90KOxWJZc/s400/RIM950.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5059163062915202386" />

Having customers pay the minimum doesn’t
reduce the balance by very much, but when the 18-30% interest
rates that many credit cards charge is applied, the result is a
profitable ones for the banks that issue credit cards. A balance
of $1000 can take nine years to pay off at 20% interest if the
borrower only pays the minimum due each month.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iGzAhrci0rs/RjXCV0nWfWI/AAAAAAAAAFM/VJLL5L0zkKE/s400/GrabbaClippingPath.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5059163436577357154" />

Clearly, it is not in the best interests of consumers to pay
the minimum every month. But tens of thousands of Americans do
just that, carrying huge balances and paying the minimum every
month. The average household now carries $10,000 in credit card
debt; for many people, paying the minimum is all they can
manage. Due to changes in Federal law, several major credit
card issuing banks will soon raise the minimum amount due to
4%. This might seem like a small increase, but if you are
already deep in debt and paying the minimum amount, this could
cause your payments to double. If you have a $10,000 balance
and you are paying $200 per month, you will soon need to come
up with $400 instead. Many people will find this impossible to
do, as they are already paying as much as they can. What
solutions are available?

The usual common sense rules of credit card use apply here.
Stop using your credit cards. See if you can consolidate your
debt on another credit card with lower interest. See if you can
cut out some unnecessary expenses in order to free up some more
money to pay your balance. Consider a home equity loan to
consolidate your debt. Call your card issuing bank and see if
they can work out repayment plan or lower your interest rate.
There are numerous solutions available, but card holders need
to be aware that the minimum payment is rising, and it isn’t
going to come back down. By charging a 4% minimum, the credit
card issuing banks are hoping that consumers will pay off their
debt a bit sooner and that fewer consumers will find themselves
in a situation where filing for bankruptcy is the only
solution. And once October comes around, even filing for
bankruptcy will be more difficult. Credit card holders with
large balances on their accounts should give considerable
thought to reducing their debt now, as payment options and
requirements are going to be more strict from now on.

About the Author: ©Copyright 2005 by Retro Marketing. How often do you never get paid? Many of you might already appreciate the benefits of accepting Visa/Mastercard, Amex, and Discover, but currently call in/key in credit card transactions. The fact that a physical credit card is not swiped is costing your business money. It is considered a higher risk transaction and your discount rate will be higher on a non-swiped card transaction. The solution that will save your company time and money is the wireless credit card terminal.

Wireless networks have evolved to the point where they are now very comprehensive and cost effective. The following list of professions could benefit substantially from wireless processing: plumbers, locksmiths, taxis, limo’s, pizza delivery, home parties, trade show participants, flea market merchants, contractors, electricians, snow plowing, lawn maintenance and photographers. The list is endless!

We all know that it is much more appetizing to spend a little more money when you use plastic. Credit Cards also make it more possible for an impulse purchase. For example, we are currently quoting an aerial photographer that takes beautiful pictures of homes in New England, then sells the finished product to the homeowner. A wireless terminal will surely increase his business and grab many of those impulse buyers that might not have purchased with cash on hand.

In closing, many industries could benefit from a wireless hand held credit card terminal. As always, do your research before purchasing and demand that your credit card processor educate you on all aspects of your contract!

Gerald Schiano is a consultant with United Bankcard of New England. Large corporations and small are in need of shredding services.

Even in many homes, people have purchased small, trash can sized paper shredders for mail and receipts. Most businesses will not be able to shred the material they have by purchasing one of these same machines. First, the small machines are not capable of the volume. Secondly, companies in general are downsizing staff and it is unlikely that they are going to pay someone to feed documents into a tiny shredder all day.

That is where you come in. Investing in a paper shredding business now is like buying a gold mine. The list of documents the Federal Government says must be destroyed is getting lengthier everyday. Every time you sign a document, be it a job application or a credit card receipt, there is a time limit that the receiving company has to hold that document. After that time limit, they are required by law to destroy, or shred, that document.

Large corporations can take in thousands of signed resumes' a year. Restaurants and retail outlets that have not gone to electronic signature devices can have thousands of credit card receipts a month. Think of all the banking records that come due for destruction every week. Now think about the amount of tax documents that need to be rotated and destroyed every year. These are just a few examples of the growing necessity of paper shredding businesses for confidential document destruction.

Mobile shredders are a fantastic investment, as the shredding device is built into the back of a large truck trailer for onsite paper shredding. This allows the shredding company owner to go to the client for onsite shredding. Companies spend thousands of dollars warehousing these documents that often get kept years past their required time because no one wants to deal with all that paper. Mobile paper shredding would allow you to go directly to their warehouse or storage facility. Clients will appreciate not having to pay someone else to have all of this information brought to you.

Even in this electronic age, there are still things that will be in paper form. Recorded documents and legal papers are still required to have pen and ink signature. Many companies are even having computer components such as hard drives and floppy disks shredded for security purposes. The federal government requires such stringent privacy laws due to identity theft and fraud, that nearly any document with a name and address on it must be destroyed after a certain period of time. This continuing process virtually guarantees that a confidential paper disposal service would thrive in the right hands.

Time limits for document destruction will play in your favor as well. Nearly every set of documents has a different holding date. For example, resumes and cover letters have a hold date of one year, if the applicant was not hired. Hired applicants can have part of their file destroyed in three years, for example, the application and some privacy statements. Corporations as well as individuals are required to keep tax records on file for three years. Companies that process financial data, such as banks and paid tax services, will always have documents that are in need of destruction. This gives you the perfect opportunity for a home employment paper shredding business.

Things to consider when thinking about a paper shredding business will depend on what type of service you wish to offer. Having a fixed location where people can bring their records to you for destruction is one idea. However, it is worth considering purchasing a mobile shredding unit in addition to this or even as the sole business operation. Mobile paper shredding will allow you to be even more flexible to your clients needs.

The demand in this industry will only be growing in the coming years as laws and policies change. It is clear that this is a growing enterprise. Be it on site shredding with a mobile shredding unit, or a permanent paper shredding location, you can be sure that there is a public in need of this critical service.

© Copyright Randy Wilson, All Rights Reserved.

Randy has dozens of home based business articles such as Best Home Based Internet Business, Ebay Money Making Tips and Medical Billing Service.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Randy_Wilson
http://EzineArticles.com/?How-to-Start-a-Paper-Shredding-Business&id=54647

Wireless Credit Card Machine

Online Credit Card Account Access
By Adam Goldman

Credit cards, the Internet and online services all pave the
path towards a new era of technological advancements and
commercialised lifestyles. Nowadays, you won’t have to fly
halfway around the world or drive across town to purchase
authentic gifts for a loved one. Instead, you can just order it
online at home. Your gift will be wrapped and delivered right to
your door step. All you need is a secure connection, a working
credit card account and a little understanding of how to manage
an online account.

In fact, if you find it hard to keep your bills in order or
can’t find the time to drop in at the bank, then having an
online credit card account is the best way to solve your
problems. With this, you can actually manage all your finances
without you ever leaving your office, or even your desk. You
can make instant payments on the spot, check past transactions
easily and immediately print statements that would regularly
take weeks to get to your mailbox.

With all this convenience, anyone is bound to worry about the
security of having an online credit card account. If you are
able to access your account with your name, ID or a simple
password, it is possible for a thief who has the right
combination of these elements to access to your account. Thus,
it is important that you do not give out your personal
information to strangers or even callers over the phone.

Also, before you enter any sensitive information on your
browser, ensure that your browser is a secured browser that
utilizes Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) that encrypts data before
transmitting it to the server. Most banking websites utilize
secured web pages indicated by a locked padlock sign at the
bottom of the browser. Naturally, credit card users are advised
to not make financial transactions over public computers. Online
access can be a godsend to most of us who lead a busy lifestyle
but if we are not careful, we may lose our finances and
property to thieving scoundrels at the click of a mouse.

About the Author: Adam Goldman recommends Find Credit Cards for
finding a Visa card application. Flight delays due to weather had caused her LAX-MDW-BWI trip to take nearly eleven hours to complete. All she could think of was taking off her shoes to relieve her aching feet and dipping them into soothing, warm bath water.

The line at the front desk was mercifully short. One clerk caught Rachel's attention and signaled her forward — she gave him her reservation information and then dug out her American Express card for payment. As he stepped away to verify its authenticity Rachel's eyes surveyed the lobby. "They've updated everything since I was last here", she thought. Her concentration, clouded by fatigue, was now on the mission style tables, chairs, and light fixtures, which had replaced the heavy, wooden furniture previously occupying the lobby. "Here is your card and room key, ma'am," the clerk interrupted minutes later. Quickly, Rachel stuffed her card back into her wallet, gathered her bags and whisked away to her room.

Rachel was a victim of identity theft that night, but did not know it at the time. Had she kept a watchful eye on what her clerk was doing instead of studying the lobby, she might have noticed him switching cards on her. At the very least, she would have seen that the card handed to her beneath her room key was not her own.

Identity theft is an exploding problem that has increased exponentially in this technological age. Particularly since the early 1990s thieves have been taking advantage of what we would consider every day transactions: writing a check at the grocery store, ordering merchandise via the internet, applying for a credit card, using your cell phone, and more. Each transaction requires you to share personal information: your bank and credit card account numbers; your income, your Social Security Number (SSN); and your name, address, and phone numbers.

An identity thief will lift some piece of your personal information and appropriate it without your knowledge to commit fraud or theft. One of the most common methods is when the identity thief uses your personal information to open a credit card account in your name.

The Federal Trade Commission is the arm of the federal government tasked with overseeing the problem of identity theft. A special hotline number (1-877-IDTHEFT) was created for consumers to call to place your information in a database which is accessible with other law enforcement agencies and private entities, including any companies about which you may complain. Additionally, an ID Theft Affidavit — a form you can use to alert companies where a new account was opened in your name — can be filled out and given to the company. This affidavit is available online to consumers.

Identity thieves can get your personal information in a number of ways:

* They steal wallets and purse containing your i.d. and credit and bank cards.

* They steal your mail, including your bank and credit card statements, pre-approved credit offers, telephone calling cards and tax information.

* They complete a "change of address form" to divert your mail to another location.

* They rummage through your trash, or the trash of businesses, for personal data in a practice known as "dumpster diving."

* They fraudulently obtain your credit report by posing as a landlord, employer or someone else who may have a legitimate need for — and a legal right to — the information.

* They get your business or personnel records at work.

* They find personal information in your home.

* They use personal information you share on the internet.

* They buy your personal information from "inside" sources. For example, an identity thief may pay a store employee for information about you that appears on an application for goods, services or credit.

Identity thieves will then take the personal information they have obtained about you and use it in a number of different ways:

* They will call your credit card issuer and, pretending to be you, ask to change the mailing address on your credit card account. The imposter then runs up charges on your account. Because your bills are being sent to the new address, it may take some time before you realize that there is a problem.

* They open a new credit card account, using your name, date of birth and SSN. When they sue the credit card and don't pay the bills, the delinquent account is reported on your credit report.

* They establish phone or wireless service in your name.

* They open a bank account in your name and write bad checks on that account.

* They file for bankruptcy under your name to avoid paying debts they have incurred under your name, or to avoid eviction.

* They counterfeit checks or debits cards, and drain your bank account.

* They buy cars by taking out auto loans in your name.

Fortunately for Rachel, American Express covered her losses. Although she didn't find out about the theft until she reached her home in California, American Express suspended her account when a number of suspicious charges appeared and she couldn’t be reached by them to verify the charges. Their fraud department left a message on her phone answering machine instructing her to call them and, when she did, Rachel was notified that someone else was using her card. When she explained that she had the card in her possession, she checked her purse and found a card for someone else instead.

Visa, MasterCard and American Express absorb the cost of fraud as long as they are notified by the consumer [certain restrictions may apply — check with your card issuer for specific details]. Had Rachel used a debit card, the story might have been much different. Unlike a credit card, the debit card takes a direct hit on your bank account, meaning that you will have to absorb the loss.

So, all is well with Rachel, right? Sure, American Express overnighted a new card with a new account number for Rachel to use on her next trip, but the problem could very well have continued — and deepened — had she not taken three more steps recommended by the Federal Trade Commission:

First, contact the fraud departments of each of the three major credit bureaus. Tell them that you are a victim of identity theft. Request that a "fraud alert" be placed in your file, as well as a victim's statement asking that creditors call you before opening any new accounts or changing your existing accounts. This can help prevent an identity thief from opening additional accounts in your name.

At the same time, order copies of your credit reports from the credit bureaus. Credit bureaus must give you a free copy of your report if your report is inaccurate because of fraud, and you make that request in writing. Review your reports carefully to make sure no additional fraudulent accounts have been opened in your name or unauthorized changes made to your existing accounts.

Second, contact the creditors for any accounts that have been tampered with or opened fraudulently. Creditors can include credit card companies, phone companies and other utilities, and banks and other lenders.

Third, if possible, file a report with your local police or the police in the community where the identity theft took place. Get a copy of the police report in case the bank, credit card company or others need proof of the crime. Even if the police are unable to catch the thief, the report can be helpful when dealing with creditors.

In summation, identity theft is a problem that is causing businesses and consumers billions of dollars per year. As a result, higher interest rates and an increase in the cost of goods and services is passed on to consumers. So, do not be a victim — protect yourself from identity theft by remaining alert especially when a third party is handling your personal information.

Matthew Keegan is the owner of a successful web design and marketing company based in North Carolina, USA. They make transactions more convenient, faster, and accurate for both customers and merchants.

At first, merchant credit card processing terminals verify your customer's card information. Then they withdraw money for the purchase from the customer?s account and deposit it directly into your merchant account. Three parts are required to accept credit cards. Besides a merchant account, you need a local bank checking account to deposit funds and a processing solution, such a terminal or web-based store front to take credit card payments. Online merchant account, or ecommerce merchant account, is a merchant account that can take credit orders on the Web.

Cost of Merchant Account

An online merchant account will boost your online sales, but merchant account incurs various types of cost. A merchant account usually requires a one-time setup fee between $50 - $100. Some merchant account providers waive the setup fee in promotion period or in conjunction with other services. Other costs include gateway fee, statement fee, annual fee, transaction fees and discount rate fees.

Accept Credit Card without Merchant Account

When you first start an online business and have limited resources, the alternative would be to use the services of a credit card processor. You can enjoy the benefits of processing credit card transactions online without the requirements of a merchant account and high costs involved. Paypal, WorldPay, PaySystems and Clickbank are some of popular credit processing services. Popular shopping carts or online storefronts, such as eBay Store, Yahoo! Store and Microsoft bCentral, offer built-in credit card processing capability.

International Merchant Account

International merchant accounts, or Offshore Merchant Accounts, are merchant accounts that allow the merchants to accept payments from around the world-- regardless of where your business or customers are located. Comparing to an online merchant account, two major services that come with an International merchant account are Multiple-Currency Support and International Fraud Protection.

Wireless/Mobile Merchant Account

Mobile merchants used to face unique issues when accepting credit card payments. With the advancement of high-speed wireless networks and mobile technology, mobile businesses are no longer limited in their payment options to just cash or checks.

Many mobile merchant account (http://www.4th-media.net/online_payment/mobile_merchant_account.php) service providers waive application fee and setup fees to attract more businesses. However, the use of wireless service provider does incur the expense of the terminal hardware, activation fee, monthly service fee, and transaction cost.

Copyright @2005, Bruce Zhang

Bruce Zhang has over 10 years experience in developing ecommerce and e-business application such as literature fulfillment (http://www.4th-media.net/order_fulfillment/literature_fulfillment.php) and supply chain management applications.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Bruce_Zhang
http://EzineArticles.com/?Online-Merchant-Account---Costs-and-Alternatives&id=27610

Wireless Credit Card Machine

150 Highest Paying Adsense Keywords Revealed!
By Kevin Miller

So you want to make money with Adsense but the first thing that you need to do is select the right keywords and phases to put in the content of your pages. You might be
thinking I use WEP-128 bit encryption with MAC address
filtering, I’m safe. Or you may be you’ve never even heard
of WEP, if this is the case you might want to unplug your
wireless access point immediately. But then again look at
the bright side at least you don’t have the false sense of
security that your network is secure. Perhaps you are the
smart guy who knows how insecure wireless networks are. You
too are at just an equal risk!

Your computer consultant might be partially right when they
say WEP will protect your network. It will protect your
network from casual snooping but that is about it. Last
year the FBI was able to crack a WEP protected network in
less than 3 minutes with tools widely available on the
internet. Since then it’s been downhill for WEP.

At this point you might be thinking, “Oh well, someone gets
on my network and uses the internet”. This is completely
false. If someone has gone through the process of getting
on your network chances are the only thing they want is not
internet access. Any computer security professional will
tell you that physical access to the network is 95% of the
security battle. Once this has been accomplished you can
consider all of your data compromised. Customer invoices,
customer data, credit card numbers and passwords to
financial institutions will all be in the hands of a hacker.

One in many methods can be used to gain access to your
personal data, whether it’s through Key loggers, Trojans, or
just by sniffing your plaintext network traffic.

Maybe, just maybe, I have not convinced you of the
insecurities of wireless networks. Let me tell you about
another attack that hackers can use to gain access to your
network. Let’s say your access points are completely locked
down, to your knowledge. A user from your network goes and
flips on their laptop while sitting in an airport terminal
waiting for a plane. They see an available insecure
wireless network so they click on it and connect. None of us
have ever done this before right, itching to check their
email one last time before heading out of town? Unbeknownst
to them they have just clicked on a fake honeypot wireless
network, set up by a rogue hacker that before they can even
realize their machine is already being scanned. Picture for
a moment that user could be anywhere, even sitting at a desk
in your network. Just as long as the rogue access point is
stronger than your AP’s radio signal you’re security is
done.

May be you fall into the category of never setting up
wireless networks because you read about their insecurities.

How then can you be at risk? Just consider for a moment
that a user in your organization fires up his wireless card.

See’s a wireless network that is named XYZCorp after your
company. So they connect to it and immediately a script is
hammering their machine for security vulnerabilities. Once
again they connected to a rogue access point setup by a
hacker. Now you might be thinking. “C’mon you must have to
be a computer genius to find and run these tools.” Think
again, thanks to the kind people over at remote-exploit.org
all these tools can be downloaded in one big happy ISO file.

Burned to a CD as an image and bang you’re done, ready to
take a drive to the nearest business and start sniffing
credit card numbers. Everything wrapped into a nice package
just waiting for the next script kiddy to start running the
programs. You may be thinking ok this is a major problem so
what should I do? Give up my organizations ability to use
wireless networks? This isn’t exactly what we are saying.
A newer wireless security technology has taken over in 2004
called WPA. It is more secure than WEP. And so far tools
are not as readily available to hack your network. But
consider the following. WEP was ratified in the late 1990’s
less than six years later it was exploited. This is typical
of almost every computer technology. It is only a matter of
time before technologies are exploited. Just always
remember Security is a multi-tiered companywide
responsibility. From providing physical security to web
site security all matters should be considered serious and
not taken lightly. So before you grab a wireless access
point and slap it in your network, I urge you to think
twice.

You may think you are in a sinking boat because you are a
small organization not able to implement the latest
technologies and afford the newest access points. Or maybe
you cannot afford to pay an IT staff over 100k-200k a year
to maintain your medium size network. Executives at
N2
Network Solutions say you should consider IT outsourcing or
IT consulting. You can get Industry certified engineers on
a project by project basis. Contractual relationships are
also available to dump the responsibility of your network
into their hands for a fraction of the price. To keep your
small to medium size network performing like a Fortune 500
machine invest the capital and secure your assets.

Jeremy Whittaker is a Senior Consultant for N2 Network Solutions, a leader in Phoenix IT Outsourcing, providing computer services and Phoenix IT Consulting.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jeremy_Whittaker
http://EzineArticles.com/?Is-Your-Wireless-Network-Secure?&id=256379

Wireless Credit Card Machine

Electronic Credit Card Processing
By Thomas Morva

The success of an online business depends on the process of accepting credit card payments. This type of payment permits you to attract both impulsive buyers and casual surfers alike. It also guarantees that you get timely payment.

Electronic credit card processing facilities handle orders directly through the Internet. This is normally a complex deal that needs the coordination of many things such as your website, your consumer?s credit card company, a payment gateway, and an account into which credits are deposited. Electronic card processing is safe and secure, and it provides the best customer service.

Three major types of electronic credit card processing are available. The first type uses a virtual machine that allows manual addition of mail. The second type involves a simple integration technique that links your site directly to the credit card and bank system. The third type uses a means for custom-linking your system to other more complex systems using a transaction gateway server.

Credit cards can be processed either in real-time or in a collective manner (batch processing). Electronic credit card processing generally has excellent real-time processing speed. The business is processed instantly and the consumer knows whether or not his card is accepted. But real-time processing has greater risk of fraud, since anybody can use a stolen card before it is reported stolen. Another disadvantage is that you cannot accept any order when the electronic credit card processor's server fails. Batch processing is ideal for smaller businesses. Here, many credit card transactions are processed jointly at a later time. The risk of fraud is moderately low.

Today, many companies offer fast, reliable and safe electronic credit card processing services. Each will work with almost all major credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover.

Credit Card Processing provides detailed information on Credit Card Processing, Online Credit Card Processing, Credit Card Processing Software, Wireless Credit Card Processing and more. Credit Card Processing is affiliated with Wireless Credit Card Terminals.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Thomas_Morva
http://EzineArticles.com/?Electronic-Credit-Card-Processing&id=353154

Wireless Credit Card Machine

Merchant Account - Credit Card Processing for Your Business
By Jimmy Wilson

Merchant Accounts allow you to conduct business online or offline with confidence to both you and your customers. Your merchant account is designed to make your business transactions a smooth exchange of goods and/or services for a payment method of credit cards, debit cards, online payment centers, faxes, or over the phone transactions.

Credit Card Processing can be much easier to set up for your online business, unless you choose to go through conventional means as you would for a brick and mortar business. If you need actual credit card processing terminals for the card swipe method, you can apply for that card processing separately.

A Merchant Account allows you the freedom of accepting credit card purchases and you don't have to wonder if the customer's account is in good standing, before you make the transaction. This is a must have in today's economy. More and more online customers are choosing to bank and purchase online, so in order to be conduct your business successfully, a merchant account is essential.

A merchant account provider gives you everything you need to get started accepting credit cards... with a payment gateway, usually with set-up fees and percentage rates per transaction charges. You need to check around for the best merchant account providers and see what they charge for set-up and processing your credit card transactions.

As you expand your merchant account, you may see a need for a credit card terminal, phone order processing, and/or a wireless credit card processor. This should also be a consideration for anticipated expansion to your business when shopping initially for a merchant account provider.
A Discount Merchant Account Provider is where you will find your best deals. With any business just starting out, the merchant account provider should grow with your business and when the time is right for your business to expand, you can rest assured your initial merchant account provider can make the necessary changes with you.

A good way to know a merchant account provider is reputable, check with the Better Business Bureau Online for feedback about the merchant account provider's scoring and if they have a high or low record of complaints. Obviously, all merchant account holders have had some bad dealings with dissatisfied customers, but the percentage rate will reflect whether they have too many to consider normal or average. Other questions you should ask:

_______________________________________________________

- What kind of merchant businesses do you accept?

- What if I have less than perfect credit?

- What credit cards will my merchant account be able to accept?

- Do I need a business license?

- What is the merchant discount rate?

- What is the Address Verification System?

- Will I receive a merchant account statement?

- How will I receive my money?

- How do I apply for a merchant account?

- How long does the approval process take?

- Is there a service phone number that I can call if I need help?

_______________________________________________________

For more information about opening a merchant account http://wealthsmith.com/merchant-account-credit-card-processing.htm

Jim has found a total package merchant account set-up ideal for entrepreneurs wanting to get started with a great opportunity. http://wealthsmith.com/merchant-account-credit-card-processing.htm

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jimmy_Wilson
http://EzineArticles.com/?Merchant-Account---Credit-Card-Processing-for-Your-Business&id=388597
